How H.E.O. works. Mask
- Humectants act as moisture magnets, attracting water to rehydrate, soften and plump the skin. The H.E.O. maskMask contains moisturizing heroes such as multi-weight hyaluronic acid, glycerin and Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF), which return lost water to the skin by creating a reservoir of hydration in the upper layers of the skin.
- Glyceryl glucoside helps stimulate hydration channels to increase water flow through the skin's layers, while blue sea kale supports the skin's natural production of hyaluronic acid, to help to recharge the skin's hydration levels in the long term.
- Emollients squalane, ceramides and linoleic acid (vitamin F) use their skin-identical, oil-loving properties to glide effortlessly across the skin's natural barrier and fill in the gaps where it escapes moisture, while deeply nourishing the skin.
- Occlusive dimethicone is made up of larger molecules than the other key ingredients, meaning it works to form a breathable barrier on the skin's surface to block the benefits of moisturizers and emollients, while physically preventing TEWL.
How to use H.E.O. Mask
- After cleansing, apply as the last step of your nighttime skincare routine.
- Spread an almond-sized amount of Step 1 of the H.E.O Mask. on the face, neck and décolleté, avoiding the eye area.
- Allow to absorb for a few minutes, then gently massage in another almond-sized amount of Step 2 of H.E.O. Mask in the same areas. Leave it on overnight.
- Apply 2-3 times per week or as needed.

Science
Skin dryness is one of the most common skin problems. It gets worse with seasonal climate changes and modern lifestyle. Dry skin is not only uncomfortable, it is a visible problem that causes peeling, fine lines and peeling makeup. Add to this a weakened skin barrier that makes it more sensitive, itchy and vulnerable to the environment, and there is no doubt that it is something that needs to be addressed. Unfortunately, it's not that easy and many of the usual day and night creams do not have the ability to maintain skin hydration for a drier skin type or one exposed to a dry environment.
To solve the problem, the Medik8 research team took a step back and asked some fundamental questions about how to hydrate skin. It soon became clear that it came down to three approaches with three different types of ingredients: increasing water content (humectants), preventing water from rising to the top surface of the skin (emollients), and minimizing evaporation (occlusives).
H.E.O. Mask contains the three fundamental elements, in an optimized proportion for synergistic hydration power.
